I am a senior citizen. At age 67 there is no escaping that fact. 55-60 you start to qualify for senior discounts. I didn’t always go for them, hoping to ignore the fact of aging, feeling insulted if a kind worker gave me the discount! By 62 I boldly asked, “Do you offer senior discount?” My son laughingly said, “Wow Mom, you’re just leaning into it.”
Going down the other side of 65, heading towards 70, (Yikes!) there is no denying, I’m a senior. I’m not crazy about the title, senior citizen, I mean I am still American.
While my husband and I were in Ocala Florida this winter, we went through the Historical part of town. Nothing special, just the old section of town. So, I guess I can say I’m Historical.
In the horse world, the Quarter horse breed has their own horse show, like many breeds. Within the Quarter horse breed shows there are many divisions. One division is Select riders, for exhibitors 50 years and over, exhibitors 70 years and over known as Super-Select! That’s getting better, I don’t know about you, but I might go with select, I’m a select American! Soon to be a Super-Select!
Aging has its downsides, but my husband and I are thoroughly enjoying this season of our lives. We are not trying to act like college students or 30 or 40-year-olds. While trying to accept our limitations, we have decided, we won’t live old!
Count your blessings, spend some time outdoors and Don’t Live Old!
